Research and Development

Nowadays, scientific and research activities at the Faculty of Horticulture in Lednice are focused in the long-term on applied research of main and minor fruit species, ornamental plants, vegetables and medicinal plants. The main aim of this long-term orientation focuses on diversity creation and evaluation of selected horticultural species and their studies, evaluations and preservation of their genetic resources and their use in breeding programs. As a part of this segment there is the research on post-harvest treatment and processing technologies of horticultural commodities as well. Currently, the resistance to the biotic and abiotic pathogens is becoming a more and more important issue of interest.

The development of the landscape ecology research, including the study of planting vegetation elements for a garden and landscape architecture need becomes an integral part of the long-term scientific and research activity.
